Summary of the contracting process

The University of Exeter is currently in the planning stage of a public procurement process for a project titled "Low Carbon Heat Supply." This project falls under the categories of goods and works, specifically focusing on district heating and low carbon heat solutions, with delivery in the Exeter area in the UK. The preliminary market engagement is currently scheduled, inviting providers to submit responses by 28th April 2025. Key details include the substantial value estimated at £75 million with a gross amount of £90 million, and the contract is anticipated to start on 2nd March 2026, running until 28th March 2036.

This tender creates substantial opportunities for businesses specialising in renewable energy and climate-friendly heating solutions to participate and potentially secure a significant contract. Ideal candidates would include those experienced in district heating and low carbon technologies, capable of managing large-scale energy projects across multiple buildings. Engaging in this preliminary market engagement can position businesses to be considered for the formal tender if it proceeds, fostering potential growth and integration into sustainable energy initiatives.
