Summary of the contracting process

Solihull College and University Centre has completed a procurement process for Waste Management Services, a key aspect of which was governed under the Procurement Act Regulations 2023/54. This contract caters for all campuses and is set to commence on 1st August 2025, following the prior contract's expiration on 31st July 2025. The procurement process entered the award stage on 3rd June 2025, and the contract period spans two years, with a potential maximum extension to 31st July 2029. The competitive flexible procedure was used, highlighting the selective procurement method. A mandatory site visit took place on 10th April 2025, emphasising the buy-side due diligence performed by Solihull College, located in Solihull, United Kingdom.

This tender can significantly benefit and offer growth opportunities for businesses specialising in waste management who are capable of providing comprehensive waste services, including municipal waste, hazardous waste, recycling, and allied services. Businesses that can offer flexible solutions and meet sustainability and compliance requirements would be particularly well-suited to this opportunity. With a strong focus on quality and cost (60:40 weighting), there is room for both large enterprises and innovative SMEs to engage competitively in this market. Success in such tenders could provide a robust platform for expanding into further sectors within public service contracts.
