Summary of the contracting process

North Ayrshire Council has successfully completed the procurement process for the "B714 Upgrading Construction" project, classified under road construction works with a CPV code of 45233120. This project involves the infrastructure improvement of the B714 road, linking the A78 Sharphill Roundabout to the A737 south of Dalry. The procurement process was conducted using the open procedure method. Notably, this tender was part of a joint funding initiative with the UK Government, reinforcing its strategic importance. The contract was signed on 7th January 2026, awarded to Wills Bros Civil Engineering Ltd with an active status and a contract value of approximately £23,455,544.94. The project is geographically centred on region UKM93, covering specific aspects of road improvements and requiring compliance with several standards, such as ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001.

This tender offers significant growth opportunities for businesses in the road construction industry, particularly for those with large-scale project experience and capacity to meet robust standards in quality, safety, and environmental management. Wills Bros Civil Engineering Ltd, being a large enterprise, was deemed suitable given its resources and compliance capabilities. However, subcontracting opportunities may still exist, particularly for firms specialising in specific road construction tasks or related trades. The project's focus on community benefits further enhances its attractiveness, especially for companies committed to enhancing local employment, education, and skills development, fostering an inclusive growth environment.
