Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process for the "Land Management Framework 2026-2030," led by Natural Resources Wales, is in the planning stage. This framework aims to support land management activities across Wales, focusing on maintenance in areas overseen by the organisation, such as forestry and recreational sites. The contract, valued at £7.2 million, will extend from 20th January 2026 to 19th February 2030. It falls under the services category with classifications in agricultural and land management. This planned procurement involves a framework agreement, welcoming participation from SMEs and VCSEs. While the planning notice was published on 22nd April 2025, further details will follow with a future notice expected on 1st November 2025. The contracting authority is based in Cardiff, responsible for overseeing this initiative under Welsh devolved regulations.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in agricultural, forestry, horticultural, and land management services. Companies that can offer low-value, planned, and reactive maintenance work across various locations in Wales will find this framework beneficial. The inclusion of SMEs and VCSEs in the suitability criteria expands the potential for smaller enterprises to engage and contribute their expertise. Thus, firms with specialised skills in managing and maintaining rural and recreational spaces will be well-positioned to compete and grow within this multi-year framework, enhancing their regional presence and capabilities.
