Summary of the contracting process

The Cambridgeshire County Council is in the planning stage for a significant procurement process concerning the Cambourne to Cambridge Construction Procurement. This initiative falls under the construction industry category and is planned to occur within the UKH12 region of the United Kingdom. The procurement strategy involves a two-stage design and build tender process, with potential inclusion of dialogue and negotiation phases. A key milestone in the planning phase is the opportunity for interested parties to contribute their perspectives on the procurement strategy by submitting a questionnaire by 5pm on Thursday, 19th February 2026. The overall procurement process includes a planned contract period starting on 6th January 2027 and ending on 30th June 2028.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses associated with construction and engineering works, particularly those capable of engaging in large-scale infrastructure projects. Businesses adept in design, construction, demobilisation, and project management, as well as those experienced with competitive flexible procurement processes, would find themselves well-suited to compete. The project spans a substantial timeline, offering potential for long-term collaboration and growth. Additionally, engaging in the preliminary market engagement phase might afford businesses influential roles in shaping the final procurement strategy, thereby enhancing their competitive edge in securing the contract.
