Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process for the "Closed Churchyard" project was conducted by Teignbridge District Council, located in Newton Abbot, United Kingdom. This process has reached the award stage, with a contract awarded to BRIDGE Civil Engineering LTD for the repair and maintenance of boundary walls, fences, and footpaths across twenty-two closed churchyards in the Teignbridge District. This contract, valued at £23,175.93 net, will run from 5th June 2025 to 1st June 2028. The procurement method was open competition, falling below the threshold, and operated on a schedule of rates. The industry category is construction, and the main procurement category is works, with key locations serviced within the UKK4 region.

This tender offers significant opportunities for civil engineering firms, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), to engage in local government contracts. It is well-suited for companies with expertise in construction works, including structural maintenance and rapid response tasks. Businesses participating in such tenders can benefit from stable, long-term contracts, which can lead to job creation and the development of a robust reputation in municipal infrastructure maintenance. The ability to engage quickly with compelling reactive maintenance solutions can give SMEs a competitive edge in future tenders with Teignbridge District Council and other sub-central government bodies.

Notice Title

Closed Churchyard - Teignbridge District Council

Notice Description

The scope of this contract will be to address the repair and maintenance of a number of boundary walls, fences and footpaths within twenty two closed churchyards in the Teignbridge District. Surveys were undertaken by the Authority's Structural Engineers in 2008 (now superseded), which highlighted a number of defects requiring remediation at that time and works including minor re-pointing & re-setting, anchoring, minor re-building and in some cases complete re-build schemes were implemented. This contract is a continuation of this remedial repair and maintenance work and the contract will operate for three years and costs reimbursement through re-measurement is based upon a schedule of rates priced by the successful contractor. Once appointed, the successful contractor will be expected to respond to reactive requests to implement remedial works within 28day, but an initial visit and rapid deployment to remove or stabilise dangerous walls maybe necessary in some urgent cases on request form the client. Once appointed the contractor will then undertake the works which will be recharged on a re-measurement basis.
