Summary of the contracting process

ESPO has concluded a procurement process for the "237_26 Athletics and Gymnastics Equipment" framework, primarily targeting the supply and delivery of athletics and gymnastics equipment. The buyer, ESPO based in Leicester, UK, conducted the procurement using an open procedure, in line with the UK's sub-central government public authority standards. The framework is extensive, covering several lots including athletics equipment and portable and fixed gymnastics equipment, with deliveries to both ESPO's distribution centre and directly to customer establishments within the UK. The award phase was completed recently on 5th February 2026, with contracts signed on 28th January 2026. The procurement cycle has progressed into the award stage, with multiple suppliers securing active contracts across the various lots selected for their offerings in sports and gymnasium equipment.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for SMEs, particularly those specialising in sports and gymnasium equipment, given the framework's open call for participation and substantial framework value. It is noteworthy that the procurement encourages businesses that can deliver both small and large-scale supplies efficiently, providing a substantial platform for business growth and expansion in public sector markets. With the framework agreement in place, suppliers can benefit from predictable demand and establish long-term relationships with a credible buyer like ESPO, facilitating strategic scaling and market penetration. The framework's structure accommodates flexibility through both competitive and non-competitive call-offs, thereby adapting to supplier strengths in meeting procurement needs, which could be ideal for businesses looking to expand their operational scope in the UK public sector.

A supplier's participation, or lack of participation, in this preliminary market engagement shall not impact the ability of the supplier to participate in any resulting tender exercise.
