Notice Title
Biowaste training - Aerobic and anaerobic treatment
Notice Description
biowaste activities can play a key role in providing energy security for the UK. This is on behalf of the Environment Agency (EA). The EA's ambition is to provide a programme of training which supports EA officers in their biowaste capability journey. We have formal learning interventions in place, Operational Instructions which detail process, on the job coaching and mentoring in respect to assuring compliance within the biowaste sector, and tools which are used to provide a consistent and risk-based approach to regulation.
Planning Information
This training will be carried out for the Environment Agency (EA). If you are interested in tendering for this training please contact Ultan Gaffney on ultan.gaffney@defra.gov.uk and request further information. You will also be issued a market engagement questionnaire for you to complete and return. Learning content: We are looking to invite organisations to tender for these training course opportunities. As a minimum, the courses cover two existing EA interventions covering the theoretical detail on the key aspects of biowaste treatment: · Anaerobic Treatment of Waste (T589) · Aerobic Treatment of Waste (T593) which covers composting and ‘mechanical biological treatment’ (MBT) Update of existing content is expected. Delivery & Innovation: We wish content to be delivered using a blended approach where appropriate. Appeal to all learning styles, be inclusive in delivery and accommodate the needs of those with protected characteristics. This will include face to face training across England and with an option for virtual delivery via MS Teams as identified. There is an expectation that suppliers will be innovate in its delivery to maximise learning opportunity/outcomes. Target Audience: The primary target Audience (training recipients) will be the Environment Agency’s area Regulated Industry site officers and national permitting officers in waste and installations teams but will be available to other sectors where AD is present. It is expected that these officers will directly regulate site activities through inspections, audits and desk-based compliance assessments. Similarly, this training is for permitting officers who will be assessing permit applications for new biowaste sites and changes to existing sites. It is likely that up to 60 officers per year will require training. Estimated contract value: We estimate that the overall contract value could be up to a maximum value of £214k (including VAT) over a 3+1+1 year period. Opportunity: We expect to go out to market Friday 23 May 2025
