The procurement process, initiated by the Environment Agency, focuses on providing training for biowaste treatment, specifically in aerobic and anaerobic methods. The initiative falls under the services category, with the primary industry classification being environmental training services. This process is currently in the planning stage and is expected to proceed to the market by 23 May 2025. Based in London, the training will cater to various locations across England, offering a blend of face-to-face and virtual sessions. This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in environmental and technical training services, particularly those with expertise in biowaste management and compliance. Suitable for SMEs and VCSEs, companies capable of delivering innovative and inclusive training programmes that cater to diverse learning needs will find this contract advantageous. The Environment Agency's requirement for a blended delivery approach and the emphasis on innovation suggest potential growth opportunities for businesses willing to develop new methodologies and leverage virtual platforms for training delivery.

Planning Information

This training will be carried out for the Environment Agency (EA). If you are interested in tendering for this training please contact Ultan Gaffney on ultan.gaffney@defra.gov.uk and request further information. You will also be issued a market engagement questionnaire for you to complete and return. Learning content: We are looking to invite organisations to tender for these training course opportunities. As a minimum, the courses cover two existing EA interventions covering the theoretical detail on the key aspects of biowaste treatment: · Anaerobic Treatment of Waste (T589) · Aerobic Treatment of Waste (T593) which covers composting and ‘mechanical biological treatment’ (MBT) Update of existing content is expected. Delivery & Innovation: We wish content to be delivered using a blended approach where appropriate. It is expected that these officers will directly regulate site activities through inspections, audits and desk-based compliance assessments. Similarly, this training is for permitting officers who will be assessing permit applications for new biowaste sites and changes to existing sites. It is likely that up to 60 officers per year will require training.
