Parenting Interventions
Notice Description
Suffolk County Council (SCC) are seeking to commission four evidence-based parenting programmes to be delivered virtually to improve parenting skills, parent-child relationships, child behaviour, reducing parental stress and improve parent and child well-being, to form part of our Parent Journey support offer for families. Parenting interventions play an important role in supporting parental mental health by reflecting on experience, building parenting skills and strengthening parent-child relationships. We are seeking providers who can deliver on-line evidence-based parenting programmes that help strengthen families' response and resilience in the face of challenges and improve both parent and child outcomes. The requirements can be summarised as below: * Provide a minimum of two courses (group-based interventions) over 12-month period with (10-16 parents) - with flexibility to offer day, evening or possibly weekend sessions (to be determined) * Parents would predominately be identified by SCC Family Help teams (actively being case worked) * Evaluation of completion and outcome provided to commissioner. establish systems for ongoing monitoring of outcomes and delivery. Tools such as implementation checklists, supervision, and regular reviews of participant feedback can identify areas for improvement and ensure interventions meet parents' needs * The expectation is that the provider would provide all course materials and contact parent, pre, mid and post course, and courses would be delivered by accredited / registered practitioners who are able to build rapport, provide non-judgmental support, and foster stable relationships over time A price per course will be agreed for the following: Lot (Programme) One - Supporting parents to build and strengthen parent child attachment and relationships: * To provide a focus on relationships and nurturing connected, sensitive and responsive interactions between parent and child which support emotional health and wellbeing * Introduction to infant, early childhood and adolescent brain development, three concepts of containment, reciprocity, and behaviour management to facilitate the understanding of relationships and how to apply this in different contexts for any parent with a child between the ages of 0 and 18 Lot (Programme) Two - Supporting Parents with children with additional needs or a disability: * To provide positive parenting approaches to support parents help understand and adapt their approaches to support their child's needs so that they can reach their potential * For parents or caregivers of children aged 0-12 with a developmental disability, such as Down's syndrome or Autistic Spectrum Disorder, as well as moderate or severe behavioural problem * Supporting parents develop strategies for managing their child's behaviour and providing advice to help their child become more independent. Changing a potential problem behaviour into a positive behaviour Lot (Programme) Three - Supporting Parents with Teenagers: * To provide improved family communication through learning how to really listen and de-code what your re-teen/teenager is really saying or needing * Focusing on parenting skills and knowledge, adolescent behaviour and mental health. Increase parents' knowledge of effective behaviour management skills and sensitively responding to pre-teen/teenagers psychological, physical and emotional needs Lot (Programme) Four - Supporting Parents: * To provide parents with simple and practical strategies to help them build strong, healthy relationships, confidently manage their children's behaviour and prevent problems developing. * Create supportive family environments, preventing and managing, behavioural and emotional problems in children and teenager * Equipping parents with the skills and confidence they need to be able to manage any family issue. parenting strategies focus on developing positive relationships, attitudes and conduct NB: We do not envisage placing any restrictions on the number of lots that providers will be able to bid for (or be awarded). In other words, providers will be able to bid for one or multiple lots (in any combination).
