Summary of the contracting process

The North Yorkshire Council is planning a significant procurement process aimed at constructing Care and Support Hubs across five sites in North Yorkshire, including Harrogate, Scarborough, Selby, Hambleton, and Craven. The initiative falls under the Health and Adult Social Care category and is in the planning stage following a series of virtual market engagement sessions held in July 2025. The procurement, worth £60 million net, with a gross value of £72 million, focuses on works construction, particularly building construction work, including facilities for specialist residential care. Potential contractors should be prepared for engagement by January 2026, with the formal tender process kicking off and continuing into 2029. Interested suppliers had previously interacted through a Request for Information process facilitated via Yortender.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for construction companies specialising in health and social services infrastructure, particularly those with experience in dementia and transitional care facilities. Given its emphasis on suitable portions being contractor-designed, businesses capable of custom construction solutions would be well-suited to compete. With the council encouraging participation from SMEs, this procurement aligns with opportunities for growth both in reputation and capacity for businesses capable of delivering multi-functional building projects. The project presents a substantial long-term opportunity for those in the construction industry to showcase their expertise in social value, supply chain management, and innovative construction methods, thereby expanding their portfolio and fostering regional development in North Yorkshire.
