Summary of the contracting process

The BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) has initiated a procurement process for a Customer Identity Access Management (CIAM) project, with a focus on IT services in London, United Kingdom. The tender, currently in the selection stage as of April 2026, invites qualified organisations to participate by completing a Non-Disclosure Agreement. The procurement, termed competitive flexible procedure, aims to transition to a new authentication platform that satisfies growth, scalability, and modern authentication needs. Key dates include the expression of interest deadline on 25th May 2026, with the contract projected to start on 29th January 2027 and potentially extend through 2036. Valued at GBP 45,000,000, the project seeks to accommodate up to 100 million users, ensuring reliable and cost-effective service delivery.

The BBC's focus on engaging modern authentication and verification methods indicates a growth potential in developing innovative solutions that cater to young audiences. Companies that can offer scalable, resilient, and state-of-the-art solutions will find this a compelling opportunity, especially SMEs and VCSEs that align with the BBC's selection criteria. The potential to influence the public sector's digital infrastructure offers long-term business growth possibilities through an extensive service contract, benefiting entities prepared to commit to technological advancements and strategic partnerships with the BBC.
