Notice Description

This Care Model sets out how care home provision in Bath & North East Somerset will be commissioned, delivered and integrated under the recommissioned Care Home Framework. It responds to increasing demand, rising complexity of need, particularly dementia and frailty and growing financial and workforce pressures, while aligning with statutory duties, strategic priorities and system-wide transformation. The model aims to ensure that people who need care home support receive safe, high-quality, person-centred care in the right setting, at the right time, and for the right length of stay, while supporting market sustainability and value for money. *Residents are entering care later, frailer and with more complex dementia needs *Care homes remain essential within a Home First and prevention-led system. The framework will cover: Residential & Nursing Dementia Interim funded (Discharge to assess) Learning Difficulties, Autism & Sensory Impairment

Planning Information

The provider engagement will be via Care Home Forums, these forums, will be from the middle of May to the end of August and separate provider meetings will be available to discuss the framework. These sessions are open to all relevant providers, to attend a session, please contact commissioning@bathnes.gov.uk if you wish to attend. There will also be separate sessions on the co-production of the specification, understanding risks & key performance indicators, this will be for the Residential & Nursing Lot and the Dementia Lot. Provider's who have the relevant speciality and who attend the care home forums will be asked to partake. All information shared and developed at these meetings and forums, will be available to interested suppliers via the commissioning email box. The Learning Disabilities, Autism and Sensory Impairment Specification, will be developed with providers at a later stage, in line with the re-commissioning of these services. This is anticipated to take place in Autumn 2026.
