Summary of the contracting process

The Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust is currently in the planning stage for a procurement process titled "Rehabilitation Engineering and Wheelchair Maintenance." This initiative falls under the services category and is aimed at supporting individuals with complex physical disabilities. The procurement is based at the Bowley Close Regional Rehabilitation Centre in London. The preliminary market engagement phase is scheduled to inform a potential future tender exercise and will remain open until 13 June 2025. Interested parties are invited to express their interest and provide relevant information before this deadline. This planning process positions the Trust as a central government public authority operating within the healthcare industry, seeking services related to the repair and maintenance of wheelchairs, rehabilitation hospital services, and more, with an anticipated contract period beginning on 1 April 2026.

This tender opportunity creates a gateway for businesses to expand within healthcare service sectors, specifically those involved in repair, maintenance, and technical rehabilitation engineering. The approximate contract value is projected at £6 million, emphasising significant business growth potential for SMEs and VCSEs with expertise in wheelchair servicing and rehabilitation solutions. Companies with experience in bespoke postural solutions, mobility devices, prosthetics, orthotics, and assistive communication devices would be well-positioned to compete. The procurement approach will be refined following the market consultation phase, ensuring that businesses have ample time to prepare for the formal tendering process expected later in 2025.
