Summary of the contracting process

The East Cambridgeshire District Council, in conjunction with the Fenland District Council, has successfully finalised the procurement process for the "Home Improvement Agency Disabled Adaptations Framework". This initiative encompasses various adaptation works, including bathroom, internal and external fittings, and heating solutions within the Fenland region, specifically targeting towns such as March, Chatteris, Whittlesey, and Wisbech. The framework, spanning four years from 2025 to 2029, was procured under an open procedure method, ensuring accessibility for a wide range of contractors. The latest updates as of 21 October 2025 indicate successful contract awards across four lots, each with a detailed framework and specific work categories.

This procurement presents substantial growth opportunities for participating businesses, particularly those involved in construction, fittings, and heating services. The framework accommodates multiple suppliers, with lots allowing up to five contractors, providing ample scope for SMEs to engage and expand their portfolio within the public sector. Award-winning firms such as Lindum Group Limited, Chas D.Allflatt Limited, and Aspire Adaptations Ltd demonstrate the framework's alignment with diverse business scales and capabilities. Engaging in such projects can significantly bolster a company's credentials and experience in public sector works, opening further avenues for future contracts and collaborations.
