Summary of the contracting process

The Department for the Economy (DfE) in Northern Ireland has completed the awarding process for the ApprenticeshipsNI 2025 Programme (Apps25). This programme falls under the education and training services category and is applicable in the United Kingdom, primarily within Northern Ireland. With an award contract signed on 31st July 2025, the programme is set to run from 4th August 2025 to 3rd August 2029. The procurement process was conducted through an open procedure, under the light-touch regime, and has a gross contract value of £216 million. The programme's primary goal is to facilitate Level 2 and Level 3 apprenticeship training for individuals employed for a minimum of 21 hours per week, with financial support covering off-the-job training for all eligible apprentices.

This tender presents significant opportunities for growth, particularly for businesses specialising in education and training services, with a focus on enhancing skill sets through apprenticeships. Organisations adept in providing structured apprenticeship frameworks, learner engagement, and training delivery are well-suited to compete in this environment. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) looking to expand in the educational sector may find the diverse requirements of the programme advantageous, leveraging their agility and local network strength. Given the broad range of industry sectors supported, there's potential for companies to cultivate partnerships, increase service offerings, and strengthen their presence in the Northern Irish educational landscape.
