Summary of the contracting process

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), an executive arm of the Department for Transport (DfT) and central government public authority, is in the planning stage of a procurement process titled "DVLA Payment Gateway". The procurement focuses on the financial and insurance industry category, aiming to integrate a Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliant Payment Gateway with DVLA’s digital and telephony services. The initiative, which is in the planning phase, involves early market engagement to consider routes for procurement. An important milestone is a webinar scheduled for 13th August 2025, from 10:00 to 12:00, intended for interested parties to attend a presentation and participate in a Q&A. Prior to this, engagement participants must register their interest and return a questionnaire by 6th August 2025. The procurement location is Morriston, United Kingdom, with future communications planned for late November 2025.

For businesses seeking growth opportunities, this tender opens avenues specifically for those specialising in PCI-compliant transaction systems, multi-channel payment solutions, and 24/7 service support. Companies proficient in working with large transaction volumes and bilingual service offerings (English and Welsh) are well-suited to compete. The DVLA’s requirements ensure sustained business for the contract duration, beginning 1st June 2027, with possibilities for renewal up to May 2032. This planned procurement encourages entities adept in financial services, corporate finance, and venture capital services to prepare for future tender opportunities.
