Summary of the contracting process

The procurement contract titled "Passport (Asset Suite 9) maintenance and support 2026" has been awarded to HITACHI ENERGY UK LIMITED by Nuclear Restoration Services Limited, based in Warrington, United Kingdom, operating under the framework of sub-central government. This contract involves the ongoing maintenance and support of the Passport system, which is a works management system crucial for asset compliance and risk management across various Nuclear Restoration Services sites. The process reached the award stage on 24th March 2026, with the contracting period set to commence on 1st January 2026 and continue until 31st December 2030, with an optional extension until the close of 2031. The procurement was a direct award, justified by the technical difficulties that a change in supplier would entail. The contract, valued at £4.4 million, includes hosting, maintenance, minor upgrades, and potential exit costs, ensuring the service is comprehensive yet agile to adapt to evolving asset management technologies.

This agreement offers substantial prospects for large-scale IT service firms, particularly those specialising in consulting, software development, and system support, to leverage their expertise in maintaining such critical infrastructure systems. The focus on maintaining safety, security, and environmental standards positions it as an excellent growth opportunity for businesses aiming to expand their footprint in regulatory compliance and risk management sectors. IT companies adept at managing complex asset lifecycle activities and innovation in Enterprise Asset Management could find significant engagement and expansion potential in such public sector contracts. HITACHI ENERGY UK's involvement underscores the emphasis on maintaining and improving technological integration within the Nuclear Restoration Services infrastructure, providing a benchmark for similar businesses to aspire to.
