Summary of the contracting process

The Borough Council of Kings Lynn and West Norfolk has successfully completed the procurement process for a Framework for Coastal Defence Repairs in Hunstanton, West Norfolk. The contract was awarded on 14th July 2026, at the award stage, following an open competition procurement method. The framework involves routine and emergency repairs including concrete patch repairs, replacement of concrete blockwork units, asphalt repairs, and health and safety upgrades to coastal defences. This framework agreement will consist of up to four contractors, with the potential for reopening competition as required. The contract period spans from 21st February 2026 to 20th February 2028, with a possible two-year renewal, and a total value estimated at £480,000.

This tender creates significant opportunities for SMEs involved in civil engineering, particularly those specialising in coastal and structural repairs. Companies with expertise in concrete, asphalt, and marine health and safety measures stand to benefit the most, as the framework allows for multiple contractors, thus widening the scope for involvement. The inclusion of criteria such as price, methodology, environmental risk assessments, and social value highlights the council's commitment to finding well-rounded partners capable of delivering high-quality and sustainable services. As such, businesses looking to expand their portfolio in public infrastructure projects should find this tender particularly appealing.
