Summary of the contracting process

The public procurement process initiated by Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) aims to acquire new Remote Video Viewing Aids (RVVA) and Industrial Borescopes for aircraft maintenance and repair operations, with the contract primarily focused on goods. The industry category falls under testing and measuring machines and non-destructive testing services. This procurement, using an open procedure, is in the planning stage, with key dates including the tender submission deadline on 13th March 2026 and the contract award expected by 20th April 2026. The procurement's geographical focus is within the United Kingdom, with the base of operations in Flintshire. The project's estimated value exceeds the threshold at £9,300,000, with the equipment becoming unsupported after March 2026, highlighting the procurement's urgency.

This tender provides significant growth opportunities for businesses involved in manufacturing and supplying specialised testing and measuring equipment, as well as firms experienced in non-destructive testing services. SMEs are particularly encouraged to participate, with an emphasis on a comprehensive maintenance and training support package. The awarded contract, scheduled to start on 1st May 2026, includes potential extensions, offering long-term engagement until 2033. With 70% of the evaluation criteria based on technical merit, there is a notable opportunity for businesses that can demonstrate high-quality solutions aligned with the MoD's standards. Additionally, the tender supports 10% social value, making it attractive for companies committed to contributing to society while delivering competitive pricing for the defence sector.
