Summary of the contracting process

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT), headquartered in Bristol, UK, has initiated an open tender process for the provision of Environmental Monitoring Systems. This process, under an active status, focuses on services within the category of environmental monitoring not related to construction. It includes two lots: maintenance of existing systems and the purchase and upgrade of new systems. With a combined estimated contract value of £9.6 million (inclusive of VAT), the procurement method involves a competitive flexible procedure with a framework agreement. Key dates include the enquiry period ending on 23rd June 2026, submission deadline on 8th July 2026, and award announcements by 18th September 2026. The contracting period is set to begin on 1st October 2026 through 30th September 2030.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in scalable and resilient environmental monitoring solutions. The framework agreement allows for direct awards to pre-qualified suppliers, suggesting an advantageous position for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs). Suppliers with expertise in providing flexible and future-proof systems that integrate seamlessly with existing infrastructures across diverse and large-scale medical environments are particularly well-suited to compete. Given the critical nature of these systems for ensuring compliance and safety within NHSBT facilities, the tender can serve as a growth lever for companies with innovative monitoring technologies tailored for healthcare settings.
