Summary of the contracting process

The Kent County Council, located in Maidstone, United Kingdom, oversees the procurement process for the "Connect to Work (Supported Employment) - SEQF and West Kent IPS Provision" initiative. This programme focuses on delivering supported employment services in Kent and Medway, with a particular emphasis on West Kent, encompassing areas such as Dartford, Sevenoaks, and Tunbridge Wells. The procurement process has reached the award stage, with a direct award made to EDSECO LTD, trading as The Education People, under a light-touch regime. The contract begins on 23 July 2025 and extends until 31 March 2027, with the possibility of further extension until March 2030. With a gross contract value of £15,292,224, the scope of the programme includes government services, education and training services, and health and social work services.

This procurement offers significant business growth opportunities, particularly for organisations experienced in delivering employment support for individuals with disabilities or long-term health conditions. Service providers that specialise in targeted interventions, job coaching, and workplace support for disadvantaged groups will find themselves well-suited to compete. The programme's ambition to aid 81,000 individuals annually highlights the potential for expansion, while the ongoing competitive procurement for additional lots across North, Mid, and East Kent aims to involve external partners starting April 2026. Such opportunities are ideal for businesses capable of contributing to the Government's 'Get Britain Working Strategy' by engaging with specified disadvantaged groups and adapting to further contract modifications and volume expansions, should additional funding arise.
