Summary of the contracting process

Leicester City Council, a public authority in the United Kingdom, is in the planning stage of a procurement process for its Leicester City Public Electric Vehicle Charging Programme. This initiative aims to enhance electric vehicle charging infrastructure throughout the city to support sustainability, improve air quality, and address climate change goals. The project, with an estimated total value of £9M to £10M, will employ a concession-style contract, divided across several Lots, allowing suppliers to bid according to their specialties. Key dates include a future notice planned for 1st November 2025 and the start of the contract period on 1st September 2026, lasting until 31st August 2029, with potential renewal extending to 2041. The main procurement category is goods, specifically focusing on the software package and information systems within the CPV classification 48000000.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses capable of supplying and managing various types of electric vehicle chargers, particularly those that specialise in on-street residential solutions. The programme's needs align well with firms experienced in infrastructure management and those familiar with concession contracts. By participating, businesses can contribute to the city's sustainability objectives and potentially expand their portfolio in the growing sector of electric vehicle infrastructure. Companies involved in software systems and information technology, given the nature of the procurement, might find this an attractive opportunity to leverage their expertise in a rapidly developing market.
