Summary of the contracting process

The University of Glasgow is seeking to establish a framework agreement for the operation, maintenance, and repair of lift and escalator installations across multiple sites, with up to three suppliers. This services procurement is currently at the tender stage, operating under an open procedure. Interested parties must submit their responses electronically via Public Contracts Scotland before the closing date on 30th June 2025. Key engagement milestones include a site visit scheduled for 10th June 2025 and interviews commencing the week of 7th July 2025. The procurement falls under the industry category of lift maintenance services and is set in Glasgow, United Kingdom, with a planned contract duration of 1440 days, plus a possible 12-month extension.

This tender presents significant business growth opportunities for companies that specialise in lift and escalator maintenance services. Companies well-suited to compete include those with a solid track record in the service industry, capable of meeting the University’s criteria for public, employers', and professional liability insurance, as well as meeting the financial turnover requirements. In particular, businesses focusing on community benefits—such as vocational training and equality initiatives—will find this tender aligns with their strengths, as it encourages subcontracting opportunities for SMEs and initiatives that support community development and up-skilling the workforce.
