Summary of the contracting process

The University of Exeter has successfully completed the procurement of a multi-lot framework for the "Provision of Furniture." This process, finalised by 1st May 2026, involved several suppliers across various categories including workplace, learning space, and residential furniture. The procurement was conducted through an open procedure, with significant stages such as the tender period concluding on 25th March 2026 and contract awards following shortly by 7th April 2026. This initiative supports academic and residential needs, ensuring adaptability to future demands and potential institutional growth. The entire framework, estimated to accommodate a gross contract value of up to £24 million, will see commencement from 15th May 2026, extending up to 2031 with potential renewals.

This framework offers significant opportunities for growth to businesses within the furniture supply industry, particularly those with capabilities in ergonomic accessories, lecture theatre seating, and laboratory furniture. The open procedure allows for a wide range of suppliers, including SMEs, to engage with the University’s needs, thereby fostering competitive innovation and service quality. Specifically, suppliers like Wagstaff Interiors Group and FMS Interior Services Ltd, which have been awarded multiple lots, exemplify the business potential for dedicated providers within this sector. The framework's structure encourages businesses capable of handling large-scale contracts to explore collaborations and expansions, particularly benefiting enterprises willing to adapt to variable demand and contributing to enhanced educational environments.
