Summary of the contracting process

North Lanarkshire Council, a regional authority based in Motherwell, UK, has completed the award stage for a tender aimed at electrical upgrade works for communal areas in low-rise blocks within the geographical area of North Lanarkshire. The contract, valued at £5,000,000, spans from 2025 to 2030 and covers both council and privately owned properties. The procurement process utilised an open procedure and included a comprehensive tender submission requirement, with essential deadlines highlighted, such as the question deadline on 4th July 2025. The awarded supplier is Saltire Facilities Management Ltd, a SME based in Bellshill, UK, who will be responsible for the rewiring and upgrading of electrical installations, adherence to IEE regulations, and other safety standards. The procurement falls under the 'works' category with a focus on electrical installation work.

This tender represents significant opportunities for businesses in the electrical installation sector, particularly those with experience in large-scale communal area projects and compliance with safety and quality standards. The contract demands engagement with private owners and provision of detailed project data on a block-by-block basis, which may benefit businesses offering tailored design and management of electrical systems. The contract is especially suitable for companies that can demonstrate a history of similar projects and have the necessary accreditations such as NICEIC or SELECT. With the possibility of extensions and an emphasis on community benefits and sustainability, businesses able to incorporate these into their offerings could leverage this project for increased visibility and further growth within the public sector procurement landscape.
