Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process, initiated by Scotland Excel, is a significant tender for the "Supply and Fitment of Tyres for Vehicles and Plant." This process involves the supply of tyres for various types of vehicles including light, commercial, and heavy vehicles as well as grounds maintenance equipment. The procurement covers multiple regions across Scotland and includes councils and other related bodies. The total estimated value is £28,000,000, distributed over a contract period of 1440 days, without the use of lots to simplify the process. The tender is in the "goods" category, following an open procedure. The procurement stage is currently in the tender phase, with a submission deadline and tender period ending on 24th July 2026.

This tender offers extensive business growth opportunities, particularly for tyre suppliers and service providers capable of handling a broad range of tyre supply and fitting services. Businesses that operate in vehicle maintenance, tyre manufacturing, and supply chains focusing on commercial and heavy-duty vehicles would be well-positioned to compete. The procurement framework allows for both the supply-only and supply-and-fit options. Additionally, the engagement encompasses potential rebates and requires compliance with notable standards such as UKAS (ISO certifications) and significant insurance requirements, making it particularly beneficial for well-established businesses with robust technical and economic standings. Participating suppliers have the opportunity for electronic auctions, and community benefits are also part of this requirement, highlighting the emphasis on broader social impact.
