Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process under analysis is titled "Compatibility Testing Service" and is facilitated by the NHS Business Services Authority, a central government public authority. The focus area of this contract is within the software-related services industry, specifically targeting compatibility testing services. This process is currently in the planning stage as of 4th July 2025, with the registration for interest closing on 25th July 2025 at noon BST. The engagement takes place within the United Kingdom, with significant activities planned, such as the market engagement exercise designed to gather high-level inputs from potential suppliers. This exercise is to inform the future procurement strategy and ensure compliance with The Procurement Act 2023 or the Public Contracts Regulations 2015.

This tender offers valuable opportunities for businesses specialising in software-related services, computer testing services, or technical testing services. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are particularly suited to compete, given the contract's suitability for smaller entities. Participating in this preliminary market engagement could pave the way to securing a position in a potential future procurement exercise, thus allowing businesses to expand into providing services that are critical for NHSBSA's diversified project portfolio. The registration and engagement process not only helps ensure continuity of service but also supports growth through engagement with central government contracts that may lead to framework agreements in the future.

Please note at this stage a route to market has not yet been determined however should the outcome of this engagement exercise identify that a procurement is required and that the best value route to market is via a Framework Agreement, then any subsequent invitation to tender and notices will be restricted to those appointed to the framework agreement and may be governed by the Procurement Regulations 2015. Additional Information Suppliers should note that this RFI and Preliminary Market Engagement is a market research exercise only and it is not an invitation to tender, an invitation to offer an agreement or a guarantee there will be a future procurement exercise.
