    The South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) is a formal partnership of councils that shapes policy and leads on decision-making. Formed in 2014, the constituent members of the Mayoral Combined Authority are Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley, and Doncaster councils. SYMCA own the South Yorkshire Supertram System, which commenced operation in 1994. SYMCA is now embarking on wide ranging renewal programme of Supertram that will see significant investment and improvement across all aspects of the system over the coming years

    SYMCA are holding two open days and interested bidders should email david.nichols@southyorkshire-ca.gov.uk to request a slot on Thursday 17th July 2025 or Friday 18th July 2025 to view the proposed refurbishment faculties at Nunnery Depot, Woodbourn Road, Sheffield S9 3LS and view a sample tram and reports. The opportunity is only open to suppliers who can carry out the full scope of works which includes but not limited to: Removing bogies for SYMCA to refurb Stripping off existing body shell Replacing floors and floor coverings Replacement of Windscreen Wiper Linkages Replacement of Saloon Heaters and Thermostats Air Leak repairs Pressure Switches Articulation Inspection Sanding System Refurbishment Flange Lubrication System Refurbishment Windows Excluding the Windscreen Cab Windscreens Cubicle sealing Roof Electrical Conduit Repairs Electrical Inspection Saloon Doors Replacement of Cab Desk Pushbuttons, Switches and Indicators Drainage Preparation for Corrosion Repairs Reassembly of the tram after completion of the Corrosion Repairs Horns Any contractor bidding may submit as a consortium or main contractor with sub-contractors
