Summary of the contracting process

Network Rail Infrastructure Limited is in its planning phase for the delivery of Mining Training Courses, an initiative designed to assess supplier capabilities within the education and training services sector. This procurement is set within the UK, specifically managed from Network Rail's Waterloo office in London. The process is currently at the stage of engaging the market to gauge interest and capacity, with a questionnaire deadline set for 31st July 2025. The procurement's primary focus is on understanding potential suppliers' capabilities to provide qualified trainers for newly developed courses, with the subsequent tender process information anticipated by 1st October 2025. This is part of a larger scheme, with the contract period expected to run from December 2026 to December 2028.

The delivery of mining training courses presents significant growth opportunities for businesses specialising in education and training services, particularly those with skilled and experienced instructors in mining. Network Rail's invitation for market engagement offers SMEs a valuable opportunity to showcase their expertise and potentially secure a role in delivering these high-value services, with an indicative budget of up to £6 million. Businesses with a robust background in providing vocational training or those looking to expand into this field could find this procurement aligns well with their strategic goals. As such, proactive engagement during this planning phase could position companies favourably for when the tender progresses to the next stage.
