Summary of the contracting process

The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, a central government public authority located in Wakefield, is in the planning stage of its tender for a Dangerous Goods & Waste Management Safety Advisor. This procurement is critical for ensuring the trust remains compliant with ADR regulations concerning the handling and disposal of clinical waste and other hazardous materials. The tender, with a gross value of £72,000, is categorised under safety consultancy services, and health and safety consultancy services. The deadline for the next milestone in market engagement is scheduled for 4th August 2025, with the contract period anticipated to start on 3rd November 2025 and potentially extend until 2nd November 2030.

This opportunity presents substantial potential for business growth for SMEs and VCSEs specialising in safety consultancy and health and safety services. The requirement for a comprehensive compliance verification, including yearly audits and advisory roles in new ventures, offers consulting firms a prominent role within the trust’s waste management strategy. Businesses experienced in advising healthcare facilities on regulatory compliance, especially those familiar with the NHS waste strategy, would be well positioned to compete effectively for this contract.
