Summary of the contracting process

The Greenshaw Learning Trust has initiated a public procurement process for the supply of Gas & Electricity Flexible PIA Supply Products, managed by Ginger Energy. This contracting process involves an extensive open procedure, aimed at appointing suppliers to provide both natural gas and 100% renewable electricity supported by Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGO) certificates. Located in Sutton, UK, the process addresses key industry categories such as natural gas and electricity under the utilities regime. The contract, which has recently reached the award stage, will commence on 1 October 2026, running for a term of 36 months with the possibility of extending for an additional 12 months. The procurement process was completed through an open procedure, ensuring compliance with the Procurement Act 2023, and the contracting phase involved multiple suppliers competing for two lots with significant values, namely £900,000 for gas and £2,520,000 for electricity.

This tender offers significant opportunities for businesses involved in the energy sector, particularly those with capabilities in managing large-scale, flexible energy supply and renewable energy solutions. With no SME final stage bids, this procurement may primarily appeal to larger organisations with a robust infrastructure to deliver high-quality and sustainable energy solutions. Businesses with experience in flexible purchasing arrangements and those capable of providing comprehensive REGO-backed assurance can greatly benefit from participating in such tenders. The contract promises not only financial rewards but also the possibility of building a longstanding relationship with a reputable educational trust such as the Greenshaw Learning Trust, offering both stability and potential for future site additions as outlined in the procurement options.
