Summary of the contracting process

Manchester City Council is in the planning stage of a public procurement process aimed at gauging the market for a Registrars IT System. The contract, titled "Registrars IT System," focuses on the software and information systems industry and is set to take place in the Manchester region, specifically UKD33. The process involves a preliminary market engagement exercise meant to assess the capabilities of potential solutions. Interested parties are invited to participate in virtual demonstrations scheduled for the week commencing 8th September 2025, with a submission deadline for the corresponding questionnaire set on 22nd August 2025. This is not yet a formal call for competition, as the Council is still evaluating the feasibility of moving forward to procurement.

This tender provides a fertile ground for businesses specialising in robust and accurate IT solutions for public services, particularly those focusing on stock management and booking systems. Small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that offer innovative, stable, and legally compliant solutions stand a strong chance in this procurement due to the expected contract duration from April 2026 to March 2030. The procurement process represents an opportunity for businesses to expand their client portfolio by collaborating with a prestigious public authority like Manchester City Council, especially for those already registered with the e-business portal, the Chest. Engaging with this tender could lead to long-term growth and the establishment of significant relationships within the public sector.
