Summary of the contracting process

Severn Trent Water Limited is seeking bids for the design and supply of two sludge drying units, with a procurement process currently in the tender stage. This opportunity, classified under sludge-handling and sludge-drier installation, carries an estimated value of £18,000,000 and involves sites across various regions in the United Kingdom. The open procurement method features a competitive flexible procedure, and the tender period is set to close on 6 January 2026. Interested parties are encouraged to complete the Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ) to potentially progress to submitting a proposal through the Request for Proposal (RFP) process. Following clarification meetings and supplier presentations, the procurement will conclude with a Best and Final Offer (BAFO) invitation prior to awards being announced by 30 April 2026.

This tender offers substantial growth prospects for suppliers specialising in sludge-handling equipment and installation. The competitive multi-stage nature of the procurement allows businesses to showcase their technical proficiency and commercial viability, with scoring criteria focusing heavily on these aspects along with pricing and sustainability considerations. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) may find this framework particularly appealing due to the suitability provisions included. Participating suppliers have the chance to engage in negotiation meetings, providing an avenue for presenting innovative solutions and potentially influencing contract terms. This is an opportunity for companies to establish or deepen relationships with a major utility provider in the UK, enhancing their portfolio within the utilities industry.
