Summary of the contracting process

The University of Kent, a public authority operating under sub-central government, has awarded a contract for a new Leisure Management System (LMS) to GLADSTONE MRM LIMITED. This procurement falls under the IT services category, specifically for a scheduling software package. The contract, effective from 31st July 2026 to 31st July 2029, follows an open competition method below the threshold, ensuring a competitive process. Valued at £99,623, this contract aims to enhance student and staff well-being and community engagement by upgrading existing systems that currently lack comprehensive data management and reporting capabilities. The award notice was published in June 2026, marking the completion of the tender phase.

This tender offers significant business growth opportunities, particularly for IT service providers specialising in software development and data management. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) could find this an excellent opportunity due to the open competition procurement method. The project focuses on delivering a seamless customer experience and improving recruitment and retention metrics through advanced data solutions. Businesses with strengths in providing innovative, reliable, and user-friendly scheduling and management systems would be well-suited to compete in similar opportunities in the future.

Leisure Management System

Notice Description

In September 2023, Kent Sport launched a new sports strategy aiming to support and improve student and staff health and wellbeing and attract the local community on to campus to enjoy the plethora of facilities. With the increased necessity to generate income, improve membership recruitment and retention and provide a seamless overall customer experience, procuring a new Leisure Management System (LMS) is an essential step in reaching these outcomes for the department. The LMS will replace the current system which is unable to meet key operational requirements with limitations in reporting functionality and data management capabilities. A replacement solution is required to provide comprehensive, accurate and timely reporting and data management.
