Summary of the contracting process

Islington Council is inviting tenders for a significant opportunity titled "Land at Maygood Street N1" in London, under the industry category of construction work. The procurement is currently in the planning stage, with a focus on developing a housing scheme on the council-owned site in Barnsbury Ward. Key information includes the planned submission deadline for expressions of interest, set for 19th October 2025. The procurement approach is an open tender using a Competitive Flexible Procedure, intended to assess bidders through a Procurement Selection Questionnaire (PSQ) followed by an evaluation of selected tenders. The estimated value for the scheme is around £60 million, targeting both affordable and market housing over a proposed 250-year lease.

This tender offers substantial opportunities for growth, particularly suited for firms specialising in housing development and construction. With its significant financial scale and strategic location, companies that excel in delivering residential projects, including those focused on sustainable and affordable housing, could benefit immensely. Furthermore, the process is structured to encourage participation from small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and potentially voluntary, community and social enterprises (VCSEs), as indicated by the procurement's suitability criteria. Engaging in this project could allow firms to establish or expand their footprint in the London housing market, aligning with the council's vision for enhancing local infrastructure and community development.
