Summary of the contracting process

The Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust is currently in the planning stage for a procurement process titled "3D Motion Analysis System". This initiative falls under the industry category of "Diagnostic devices" and is located in the United Kingdom, specifically in Sheffield. The procurement process aims to acquire a 3D marker-based motion analysis system for the Movement Analysis Laboratory, which will be relocated to the new National Centre for Child Health Technology in 2026. Suppliers are invited to participate in a Pre Market Engagement, with responses due by 31st October 2025. The tender's purpose is to evaluate the capability of suppliers to deliver the required system, which will be integral to the paediatric clinical gait analysis service and R&D programmes. The procurement is overseen by Kathryn Beverley, with solicitation due to transition to the tender process ahead of the anticipated contract period starting on 16th March 2026.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in high-tech diagnostic systems, particularly those experienced in kinematic and kinetic analysis. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) would be well-positioned to compete, given the system's requirements for integration with existing technologies and infrastructure. The procurement process, which prioritises flexibility, compatibility, and comprehensive support, offers businesses an opportunity to contribute to advanced healthcare research and service delivery. Successful bidders will not only supply cutting-edge technology but also engage in an ongoing relationship, providing training, service, and support, thereby fostering business growth and a strategic footprint in the expanding medical technology market.

Notice Title

3D Motion Analysis System

Notice Description

3D marker-based motion analysis system for the Movement Analysis Laboratory, which is relocating to the newly constructed National Centre for Child Health Technology (NCCHT) in 2026. The Trust is looking to clinically evaluate a state-of-the-art 3D marker-based motion analysis system available in the UK market in the coming months.

Planning Information

Sheffield Children’s Hospital NHSFT is issuing this Pre Market Engagement notice to understand the capability of suppliers in delivering the requirement of the upcoming procurement for a 3D marker-based motion analysis system for the Movement Analysis Laboratory, which is relocating to the newly constructed National Centre for Child Health Technology (NCCHT) in 2026. The Trust is looking to clinically evaluate a state-of-the-art 3D marker-based motion analysis system available in the UK market in the coming months. Key requirements include: 1. This system will be central to the delivery of our CMAS-certified paediatric clinical gait analysis service, enabling detailed kinematic and kinetic assessments to inform treatment planning, evaluate interventions, and support long-term monitoring. Beyond its clinical application, the system will underpin an expanding programme of research and development in full-body movement analysis across both paediatric and adult populations. Current areas of interest include upper-limb kinematics, musculoskeletal modelling, and balance assessment. 2. To support these applications, the following features must be provided: • Marker-based camera system with synchronised video capture (area 14-20m x 6m). • All hardware/software for 3D data collection, processing, visualisation & reporting. • Flexible configuration to support clinical and research workflows. • Class I medical device with measuring function (1m) • Synchronisation with existing lab infrastructure: o Four AMTI force platforms o Delsys EMG system o Vicon markerless motion analysis system • Support for concurrent data collection across listed systems via integrated software or proven interoperability. • Processing, visualisation, and reporting of force platform and EMG data within system software. • Robust integration with existing markerless system to support development of hybrid 3D workflows (a strategic priority), enabling streamlined data acquisition and generation of meaningful outputs for validation, research, and clinical use. 3. Equipment must be supplied with full training and ongoing customer support & service / maintenance contract. 4. Equipment must fully integrate with hospital systems, with on-site installation and mentoring provided. Please read the requirement on the Pre Market Engagement and submit your response by e-mail.
