Summary of the contracting process

The public procurement process led by Stonewater Limited is currently in the planning stage, focusing on the installation of a flood defence fence at Cherry Brook in Hope-Under-Dinmore, Herefordshire. This initiative responds to significant flooding that has affected sixteen homes in the area. As part of market engagement, Stonewater is exploring potential solutions to be implemented by the end of 2025. Organisations are invited to express interest by 19th October 2025. The project falls under the industry category of flood-prevention and maintenance works, with an estimated total value of £300,000. The fence installation work is planned to start on 30th November 2025 and conclude by 31st December 2025.

This procurement opportunity presents significant potential for businesses specialising in flood prevention and maintenance works. Companies with expertise in creating low-maintenance, high-quality flood defence solutions that can be installed efficiently may find this project aligns well with their capabilities. Additionally, businesses familiar with working within tight timeframes and those based in or having operations near Herefordshire would be particularly well-suited to participate in this tender. The preliminary market engagement phase allows organisations to inform Stonewater of their capacity to meet the project's technical requirements, paving the way for potential future procurement involvement.

Notice Title

Flood Defence Fence at Cherry Brook

Notice Description

Sixteen homes at the Cherrybrook Close scheme in Hope-Under-Dinmore, Herefordshire, have suffered significant flooding in recent years. There is a brook that runs through the middle of the scheme behind the houses that front onto the main road. The scheme is located at the end of a long road through Hope-Under-Dinmore within the local authority of Herefordshire Council. The homes are in an area where water has historically gravitated towards when there has been sustained and heavy rainfall before the water makes its way into the brook. The water travels from the south from higher ground and has impacted internally the 16 homes that are closest to the main road; these being 1-6, 9-10 and 31-38 Cherrybrook Close. The properties to the rear of the scheme are on higher ground and so have not flooded internally up to this point. The most recent floods in November 2024 prompted a full review of the flood strategy for this scheme and more in-depth discussions with Herefordshire Council about the wider impact of flooding on the area due to factors outside of Stonewater's control/ownership/responsibility. Stonewater have been reviewing localised flood defence options and have settled on a product that provides protection to each home that has flooded internally in the past. The specifications are as follows: - Low maintenance flood defence fence that is a minimum of 900mm high and would be guaranteed to keep out flood waters up to 900mm in height (seepage leakage rate must be declared) - The fence is to be installed around the boundary of each property impacted by flooding - There needs to be removable access panels for the driveways. These needs to be of a construction that residents can easily remove/slot in as required and that don't require machinery or contractors for day-to-day operation - Circa 500 linear meters of fencing is expected to be required to protect the properties at highest risk - Circa 15 removable driveway panels are required for access to the properties to be protected by the fencing To view this notice, please click here: https://www.delta-esourcing.com/delta/viewNotice.html?noticeId=984654694
