Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process was initiated by the Business Services Organisation Procurement and Logistics Service located in Belfast, United Kingdom, to support and maintain the NI Child Health System (NICHS) from 2026 to 2030. The procurement falls under the IT services category, specifically focusing on consulting, software development, and support in Northern Ireland. By October 6, 2025, DH OPCO UK LTD was awarded the contract to manage this critical system used by all HSC Trusts, ensuring efficient handling of services for children and young adults. The procurement process was executed through a direct award due to technical reasons, effectively bypassing a competitive tendering process to timely and competently address ongoing and future needs.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for large enterprises specialising in IT services, consulting, and software development, particularly those with experience in healthcare systems. Businesses with a robust understanding of the complex requirements of child health services and sophisticated technical capabilities would be well-suited for such engagements. The contract emphasises ongoing support and system enhancement, offering a chance for firms to consolidate their presence in the public sector, particularly in health informatics, thus providing pathways to long-term strategic growth and innovation in service delivery.
