The Victorian Street at Preston Park Museum in Stockton-on-Tees offers a charming and immersive glimpse into life in the late 19th century. Visitors can stroll through a meticulously recreated street featuring a variety of authentic shops and trades, including an ironmongers, printers, grocers, sweet shop, drapers, chemist, police station, and blacksmiths. Each shop is brought to life by dedicated volunteers, many dressed in period costume, who demonstrate traditional skills and engage with guests. Highlights include the sweet shop, where visitors can purchase classic treats like bonbons and pear drops weighed out the old-fashioned way, and the grocer's shop, which showcases produce grown in the museum's Victorian walled garden.
