Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process for "Sheriff Officer Services 2026 - 2030" was initiated by North Lanarkshire Council, a regional or local authority based in Motherwell, United Kingdom. This framework agreement aims to provide legal services specifically within the jurisdiction of Hamilton and Airdrie Sheriff Courts. The procurement falls under the services category, targeting the legal services industry. The contract value is estimated at £880,000 and involves an open procurement method. While the tendering period has closed, it followed an open procedure with a deadline set for 11th November 2025, and contracts were awarded on 26th March 2026 to Graham Stewart & CO and Malcolm J Boyd for the respective Sheriff Courts. These agreements span an initial 24-month period, with potential extensions of up to an additional 24 months.

This tender provides significant growth opportunities for large-scale legal services firms, particularly those with a focus on practising within the Scottish legal framework. With the requirement for membership in the Society of Messengers-at-Arms and Sheriff Officers, this procurement is well-suited for established firms capable of handling a comprehensive range of sheriff officer duties. The provision of services like foreign citation, tracing, ejection, diligence, and auction, as specified in the tender, indicates a prominent role for firms adept in executing legal functions in support of public service obligations. Furthermore, the inclusion of community benefits within the procurement highlights the potential for service providers to contribute positively to the local community aside from fulfilling contractual obligations.
