Summary of the contracting process

The Isle of Wight Council managed an Information Advice and Guidance (IAG) Service procurement, which was planned to support the Islands Poverty Reduction Strategy from 2024 to 2029. This open procedure aimed at creating a universal, high-quality service to improve wellbeing and community resilience. Key stages of the procurement included initial planning as of October 2025 and proceeding towards tendering with an expected contract period from 1st March 2026 to 28th February 2029, with possibilities of extensions. Though an award was initially given to Isle of Wight Citizens Advice Bureau in February 2026, representing a notable investment of up to £186k per annum, the process was later terminated on 10th February 2026 due to evolving financial and strategic priorities.

This contract presented substantial growth opportunities for businesses focused on health and social work services, with an emphasis on innovative service delivery that aligns with community support strategies. Large organisations, as well as SMEs, were well-positioned to benefit from the extended possibilities of a two-year renewal option post-March 2029, which hinged on their ability to integrate solutions for promoting independence and supporting local communities under the evolving guidelines of the Crisis Resilience Fund. Suppliers adept at delivering effective IAG services with a community-focused approach would have found this tender an opportunity for long-term growth and partnership with local governance.
