Summary of the contracting process

The Education Authority in Northern Ireland is currently in the planning stage of a contract to appoint an Integrated Supply Team for the construction of a new school building for Iveagh Primary School in Rathfriland, Newry. This project involves the demolition of the existing school and the construction of a new 10-classroom single-storey building on the same 1.4-hectare site. The procurement process falls under the 'works' category, specifically targeting building construction work related to education. The Pre-Market Engagement is ongoing, with suppliers invited to provide feedback by 14th November 2025. The preliminary engagement focuses on potential construction methodologies, such as the use of precast concrete to accelerate timelines and reduce on-site disruption.

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for businesses in the construction industry, particularly those experienced in educational infrastructure and innovative construction techniques. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are especially encouraged to participate due to the suitability criteria. Businesses with expertise in precast concrete systems could significantly contribute to the project's goals of minimising disruption and expediting the project timeline. Participation in this pre-market engagement is not mandatory for future procurement involvement but offers valuable insight and the potential for business growth within the public procurement framework.
