Summary of the contracting process

The University of Glasgow is currently in the tender stage for a framework agreement titled "PURCH2820 Framework Agreement for the Provision of Alcohol for Events". This procurement falls under the industry category of food, beverages, tobacco, and related products. It is intended to supply alcohol for events such as graduations, weddings, and formal occasions hosted at university venues in Glasgow (region UKM82). The tender process follows a competitive procedure with negotiation and is active, with a submission deadline by 12:00 on 1st December 2025. The framework is planned for a duration of two years with options to extend it twice for 12 months each. Interested suppliers must submit bids electronically via the Public Contracts Scotland portal.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses involved in the food and beverage supply sector, especially those with expertise in providing alcoholic beverages. It is particularly suitable for suppliers looking to expand their reach into the educational and events market in the UK, as the contract involves diverse events and high-profile occasions. Businesses that demonstrate strong community benefit policies, including employment and training opportunities, as well as a commitment to sustainability, may have a competitive edge. The requirements for substantial product liability and public liability insurance, alongside a minimum financial turnover threshold, suggest that this opportunity would best suit established businesses with the capacity to meet these criteria. Additionally, businesses able to offer competitive pricing and additional value through exceptional customer service and sustainability initiatives are likely to thrive in this procurement process.
