Summary of the contracting process

The current procurement process is initiated by Transport for London (TfL), a central government public authority based in London. This tender, titled "Provision of Trial Equipment for an Automated Vehicle Gauging System," is within the railway and tramway industry category. The procurement, currently in the planning stage, involves trial equipment for train gauging measurement systems with trials to be conducted across two locations from February 2026 to January 2027. Suppliers interested in participating must submit their Expressions of Interest by 6th November 2025, with further submissions due by 21st November 2025. Potential business participants are directed to engage through preliminary market engagement channels specified in the documentation.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses specialising in automated vehicle technology and railway equipment manufacturing. Companies with expertise in machine learning and artificial intelligence, particularly those developing diagnostic imaging systems, will find this project suitable for their specialties. By taking part in this tender, businesses can collaborate with a significant public authority and establish a foothold in the growing sector of railway automation. Notably, all captured trial data remains the property of TfL, ensuring suppliers can enhance their systems only with TfL's consent, which may lead to further procurement following the trial phase.
