Summary of the contracting process

The public procurement process for the project titled "TVCA-PROC-0708 - Ground, Pavement and Utility Investigations (Transport)" has been completed. This project was initiated by the Tees Valley Combined Authority, located in Darlington, as part of an open competition procurement process. The contract, which commenced on 22nd June 2026, involves the provision of ground investigation services to support transport and infrastructure projects across the Tees Valley. The awarded contract, signed on 9th July 2026, is valued at £600,000 (gross £720,000), with an active period extending until 21st June 2030, and an optional two-year extension. The procurement category is classified under "works", with industry class codes including ground investigation work and services.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in engineering, ground investigation, and infrastructure support services, especially those with capabilities in both intrusive and non-intrusive investigations, laboratory testing, and reporting. SMEs looking to grow within the public sector can particularly benefit, as evidenced by the involvement of GeoEnviro Solutions Limited, an SME that secured the contract. Businesses adept in managing site investigations, access arrangements, and traffic management, while providing high-quality engineering reports, would be well-suited to compete in similar procurement opportunities in the future.
