Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is spearheading a procurement process under planning status to replace the Defence Medical Information Capability Programme with a new Primary Dental Care (PDC) system. Scheduled for an Industry Day on 10 December 2025, this initiative is part of Programme CORTISONE, aimed at enhancing digital healthcare for the UK Armed Forces. Located in Corsham, United Kingdom, the MoD seeks to engage with potential suppliers to establish a digital dental service ecosystem, leveraging medical software packages categorized under the "Medical software package" CPV code 48180000. Interested parties must register by 3 December 2025 to attend the event, with the procurement process expected to commence with notices by 10 March 2026 and contract commencement in September 2026 through a competitive flexible procedure.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in medical software solutions, particularly those capable of providing robust, integrated digital healthcare services. The procurement process has been designed to accommodate small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and businesses with off-the-shelf software offerings are especially encouraged to participate. With a substantial contract value of £3,760,000 to £4,700,000, the project offers a platform for firms to expand their reach within defence healthcare sectors, potentially developing custom applications for both connected and disconnected environments. Companies with expertise in dental record management, patient health management, and clinical workflow systems are ideally suited to compete in this rewarding venture.

What is Programme CORTISONE? Overview Programme CORTISONE will deliver digital healthcare products and services required by the Defence Medical Services for use in the UK Armed Forces. Delivery is being undertaken by an integrated team comprising elements from Defence Medical Services and Defence Digital and supported by Industry. Programme CORTISONE is delivering a multi-component ecosystem of medical information services with the vision to develop ‘a sustainable, integrated, cohesive and enduring information capability that will fully and effectively support the delivery of evidence-based medical and healthcare outputs, to achieve the aim of the Defence Medical Services’.
