Summary of the contracting process

NHS England is preparing to launch a procurement process for "Practice Level Support Services in General Practice," poised to commence from April 2026 through March 2029, with a possibility of renewal extending to 2030. This planning-stage initiative falls under the services category, focusing specifically on business and management consultancy services (CPV code: 79410000). A market engagement event is scheduled for 3 December 2025 in London, providing potential suppliers an opportunity to learn about the current Practice Level Support (PLS) programme, the upcoming specification, and the procurement process. NHS England is located at Wellington House, 133-135 Waterloo Rd, London, and is recognised as a central government public authority within the UK.

This tender offers remarkable growth potential for businesses experienced in providing consultancy services, particularly those adept at enhancing operational efficiencies within healthcare settings. The initiative aims to support general practices in enhancing service delivery through operational improvements, benefiting both patients and staff. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) may find this opportunity particularly well-suited, given the procurement's openness to smaller entities. The market engagement session on 3 December 2025 will be an invaluable occasion for interested parties to engage with NHS England, gain critical insights, and potentially shape the future procurement landscape.

Notice Title

Practice Level Support Services in General Practice

Notice Description

NHSE wishes to establish a commercial mechanism for 'practice level support' (PLS) to be purchased for general practice between 2026-2029. PLS is an improvement support programme for general practice that helps general practices to make operational changes for the benefit of patients and staff. For patients, benefits are in improved access and health outcomes, and for staff through increased productivity and reduced workload. PLS delivers these benefits through providing high quality improvement support to general practices so that they are able to implement the changes needed to adopt or optimise the Modern General Practice approach. Modern General Practice (MGP) is a set of operational processes in general practice, based on research and evidence, that enable practice to deliver effective services, good quality access, improved continuity and other benefits for patients, alongside improved working conditions for staff. NHS England would like to invite interested Suppliers to take part in a market engagement event scheduled for 3 December 20025 at 11:00 - 12:30. The purpose of the market engagement is to: Provide an overview of: o the current Practice Level Support (PLS) programme (ending March 2026) o the Primary Care context. * Describe the Modern General Practice, Practice Level Support delivery specification from April 2026 * Proposed Contractual Model * Overview of the procurement process and potential timelines * Question & Answer session You can register your interest at the following link: https://events.teams.microsoft.com/event/a63516f6-384c-4aa8-95d8-2b68f0836fa8@37c354b2-85b0-47f5-b222-07b48d774ee3
