Summary of the contracting process

The City of London Corporation has completed an open procurement process for the provision of beverages at the Barbican Centre, focusing on the supply of draft beers, wines, and packaged drinks including spirits and soft drinks. This procurement, with significant opportunities for business due to its estimated total value of £1,656,000, was divided into three lots, with contracts starting between May and July 2026 and differing in duration per category. The buying organisation, the Mayor and Commonalty and Citizens of the City of London, manages the Barbican Centre and sought to align the procurement with its reputation for bold and creative ideas, requiring an offering that is both high-quality and value for money. The procurement was carried out via the City of London's electronic tendering system, necessitating registration for participation.

This procurement presents a notable opportunity for businesses in the beverage industry, especially those capable of offering competitive pricing and high-quality products that match the aesthetic and ethos of the Barbican Centre. Suppliers suitable for such contracts range from small and medium enterprises to larger established suppliers in the beverage sector. The completion of the award for Lots 1, 2, and 3 involves companies like Enotria Winecellars and Brixton Brewery Limited, highlighting the scope for both SMEs and larger businesses to secure contracts in this sector. The potential contract extensions, particularly for Lot 1 and Lot 2, can offer long-term engagement, enriching suppliers' portfolios and potentially boosting their market presence in the UK.
