Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process for the Ross-on-Wye Lengthsman Scheme has been completed by the Ross-on-Wye Town Council, a public authority operating under sub-central government within the UK. The contract, awarded on 10th March 2026 to ONSITE CENTRAL LIMITED, is focused on services related to drainage works and gully cleaning and emptying. This open competition, with a value of £60,000 excluding VAT, adheres to UK legislation 2023/54 and falls below the relevant threshold. The contract runs from 1st April 2026 to 31st March 2028, with the option to add traffic management if needed. The procurement method was open and competitive, providing a fair opportunity for various suppliers and businesses across regions such as West Midlands and other UK regions. Key dates included tender publication on 11th December 2025, clarification deadline on 14th February 2026, and response deadline by midday on 21st February 2026.

This tender offers significant growth opportunities for businesses specialising in environmental management and maintenance services, particularly those with expertise in drainage and gully operations. It would be particularly well-suited to large firms like ONSITE CENTRAL LIMITED, which was awarded the contract, but SMEs could also compete effectively given the diverse list of locations and specifications involved. Firms with capabilities in sustainable waste management and pollution prevention would benefit from the requirements for biodegradable materials and careful waste disposal practices. The contract's emphasis on integrating environmentally friendly practices aligns well with businesses focused on sustainable operations. Companies with good infrastructure and delivery capabilities should consider pursuing future tenders from Ross-on-Wye Town Council, leveraging their experience and expertise to meet the required standards and potentially expanding their market presence.
