Summary of the contracting process

NHS National Services Scotland, through National Procurement and acting as a central purchasing body, procured compounded aseptic medicines for NHS Scotland health boards, special health boards and integrated joint boards. The requirement covers pharmaceutical products supplied across Scotland for use by these public health organisations. The medicines are organised into four product groupings, covering oncology and other aseptic preparations including bortezomib, cisplatin, docetaxel, doxorubicin, gemcitabine, infliximab, oxaliplatin, trastuzumab, vincristine, bevacizumab, cytarabine, fluorouracil, insulin, methotrexate, natalizumab, paclitaxel, panitumumab, vedolizumab, epirubicin, irinotecan, nivolumab, rituximab, carboplatin, cetuximab, cyclophosphamide and pembrolizumab. The procurement was for a multi-supplier framework, with some product groupings ranked and another allowing up to three participants per product line.

The procurement is complete and resulted in four active awards and contracts under an open procedure and multi-supplier framework. Lot 2 was awarded to ITH Pharma Limited and Qualasept Limited trading as Bath ASU, valued at £23,420,770. Lot 3 was awarded to Baxter Healthcare Ltd and ITH Pharma Limited, valued at £10,307,240. Lot 4 was awarded to Baxter Healthcare Ltd, ITH Pharma Limited, Qualasept Limited trading as Bath ASU, Quantum Aseptics and Target Healthcare Limited, valued at £8,354,897. Contracts were signed on 1 July 2026. Each lot has a 1,080-day period and may be extended by up to 12 months. Evaluation weighted price at 60%, with product stability, communication, capacity and contingency each weighted at 10%.
